Sun Life nominated for HR best practices award

Sun Life Family Health Center was recently nominated for the Phoenix Business Journal's annual HR Best Practices Award.

The Phoenix Business Journal’s annual HR Best Practice Award is awarded to a company that demonstrates the importance and positive impact strong HR practices can have within an organization. The purpose of the award is to recognize an organization that aligns successful HR programs and practices with the company’s business objectives.  There are nominees in the following three categories:  Small Company Size (1-200 employees), Medium Company Size (201 – 750) employees), and Large Company Size (750 and more employees).

Nominations recognize and reward excellence in those companies that are making a difference, and showcases practices that HR professionals and organizations can incorporate into their companies. It encourages HR Professionals to “Carry the Banner” in promoting “Best Practices” in their own companies, and helps to communicate the benefits of strategic, proactive and not a reactive, HR.

What does a nomination for award like this mean to Sun Life?

“A nomination for an award like this gives Sun Life a wonderful recognition in the local and statewide business community that throws a spotlight on Sun Life as one of the greatest places to work in Arizona,” Sun Life HR Director Dennis Krug said. “And we’re proud of that.”

Along with Sun Life’s other employee engagement efforts, HR Best Practices highlight the forward looking mindset necessary to enable the nonprofit organization to continue to outpace the growth of its other local healthcare competitors.

“HR Best Practices are often representative of those organizations whose workforce WANTS to come to work there and wants to STAY there,” Krug added. “That’s the kind of culture we have built and continue to build here at Sun Life.”

Sun Life is proud to be nominated for this award,” Sun Life CEO Travis Robinette said. “Although we were not selected to receive the award, being nominated speaks volumes about our HR department and the satisfaction of Sun Life staff.”
